Cheryl A Ruble, M.D.

Education: Wayne State University
Training: Detroit Medical Center

Specialty: Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease

Dr. Cheryl Ruble has maintained current dual board certification in internal medicine and infectious disease. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and her MD degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Ruble completed an internal medicine residency, including a chief residency, and a fellowship in infectious disease at the Detroit Medical Center. She has always practiced general internal medicine in addition to her infectious disease subspecialty. The scope of her infectious disease practice is broadly encompassing and includes the evaluation and management of conditions for which the administration of outpatient parenteral antibiotics at home or in an infusion suite setting is appropriate, and advanced comprehensive wound care.

In her role as a primary care internist, Dr. Ruble strives to provide compassionate quality care, and avoid a “production line/quota meeting/profit before patient” approach to the practice of medicine. Her style is holistic with a discriminating open mindedness towards nontraditional, complementary treatment modalities. She will take the extra time to administer a “dose” of listening and concern, or write a “prescription” for lifestyle modification, or even give an “injection” of humor when that would better serve a patient than just a pharmaceutical intervention. She feels her role as a physician is to act as a facilitator, providing up-to-date information and recommendations and engaging the patient in an active discourse, ultimately empowering and motivating the patient to self-promote wellness.

In her spare time, Dr. Ruble enjoys spending time with her husband, Kevin, and twelve year-old twins, Paul and Hannah, not to mention her two dogs and two cats. She is an avid reader, enjoys watching movies, and fancies herself something of a gourmet cook. She practices what she preaches in that exercise is a priority, her favorite activities being hiking in the woods near her home (much to the delight of her dogs), swimming, cross country skiing, and working out at the gym and on home exercise equipment. Her dream is to someday author a book.
